    UPNVJ Collaboration with Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina (UFSC) Brazil

    The signing of the MoU between UPNVJ and the Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina (UFSC) on April 3, 2023, was a follow-up to the exploratory discussions attended by the UPNVJ International Office, Mr. Prof. Dr. Bernardo Meyer, Chief of the President’s Office at UFSC, and the Indonesian Embassy in Brasilia on September 16, 2022. In addition, to initiate the collaboration, the UPNVJ International Office organized a webinar on October 13, 2022, with the theme “Education System, Study Opportunities, and Collaboration with Universities in Brazil.”

    The MoU signing event was attended in person by Dr. Drs. Anter Venus, MA., Comm., Rector of UPNVJ; Dr. Taufiq Fedrik Pasiak, M.Kes., M.Pd.I, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine; Sri Lestari Wahyuningroem, PhD., Head of the Research and Community Service Institute (LP2M); Dr. Bambang Susanto, MA., Head of the UPNVJ International Office; and staff.

    Meanwhile, the event was attended virtually by representatives from UFSC, including Mr. Prof. Dr. Irineu Manoel de Souza, Rector of UFSC; Mr. Prof. Dr. Bernardo Meyer, Chief of the President’s Office at UFSC; Ms. Dr. Fernanda Geremias Leal, Director of UFSC International Relations; representatives from the Indonesian Embassy in Brasilia, such as Mr. Edi Yusup, SE., M.Sc., Indonesian Ambassador to Brazil; Mr. Resha Maulana, Head of the Social and Cultural Information Section, and staff; as well as other members of the UPNVJ academic community, such as Mrs. Erly Krisnanik, S. Kom., MM., Vice Dean III of the Faculty of Health Sciences.

    The event begin with remarks from Dr. Drs. Anter Venus, MA., Comm., Rector of UPNVJ, who expressed his appreciation for the establishment of the collaboration between UPNVJ and UFSC through the MoU. He noted that the signing of the MoU is part of UPNVJ’s efforts to enhance its internationalization and achieve its vision of developing networks and partnerships both domestically and internationally. It is hoped that the cooperation between UPNVJ and UFSC will be successful through the implementation of several collaborative programs, such as faculty and student mobility, joint research and publication, guest lectures, and the development of other innovative cooperation programs.

    This was followed by a speech from Mr. Prof. Dr. Irineu Manoel de Souza, Rector of UFSC, who welcomed the collaboration between UPNVJ and UFSC and expressed his hope that it would enhance academic and research cooperation. In his speech, he provided a brief profile of UFSC, which is located in Santa Catarina, Brazil, and has four campuses.

    Lastly, a speech was delivered by Mr. Edi Yusup, SE., M.Sc., Indonesian Ambassador to Brazil, who noted that the cooperation between Indonesia and Brazil is not only in the political and economic fields but has also expanded into education, as evidenced by the signing of the MoU between UPNVJ and UFSC. He highlighted that Santa Catarina, where UFSC is located, is Brazil’s second-largest partner city in terms of cooperation with Indonesia. It is hoped that through this collaboration, Indonesia and Brazil can contribute to the international society.

    Collaboration between UPNVJ and Lobachevsky University, Russia

    On Monday, March 27, 2023, UPNVJ officially established an official collaboration with Lobachevsky University, Russia, through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). The MoU signing ceremony was attended by Dr. Drs. Anter Venus, MA., Comm., Rector of UPNVJ; Professor Oleg Trofimov, Rector of Lobachevsky University; Dr. Alexander Bedny, Vice Rector for International Affairs; Dr. Konstantin Kemaev, Deputy Vice Rector for International Affairs; Dr. Ermatita, Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences; Dr. Kusumajanti, M.Si., Acting Dean of the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences; and other academic civity of both Universities virtually and in person.

    The event was opened by the remarks of Dr. Drs. Anter Venus, MA., Comm., Rector of UPNVJ, who briefly introduced UPNVJ’s faculties and study programs and highlighted efforts to strengthen international cooperation networks. He expressed his hope that the signing of this MoU would open up opportunities for collaborative programs such as faculty and student exchanges, double degrees, guest lecturing, and more between UPNVJ and Lobachevsky University.

    Following this, Professor Dr. Oleg Vladimirovich Trofimov, Rector of Lobachevsky University, delivered his remarks, thanking UPNVJ for initiating the collaboration through the MoU signing. He hoped that the MoU would pave the way for both universities to enhance quality internationalization. Mr. Jose Antonio Morato Tavares, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Indonesia to Russia, expressed his appreciation for the efforts of both universities in strengthening Indonesia-Russia academic relations through inter-university cooperation.

    A symbolic MoU signing ceremony and documentation of the event were conducted. The event continued with a discussion between UPNVJ and Lobachevsky University on the implementation plans for the MoU programs. The discussion was opened by Dr. Bambang Susanto, MA., Head of the International Office of UPNVJ, who explained that both universities had previously explored a double degree program between the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences of UPNVJ and the Faculty of Philology of Lobachevsky University. He hoped that in addition to this program, UPNVJ and Lobachevsky University could also implement programs in other fields.

    Ritsumeikan University Summer Program

    UPNVJ has collaborated through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Ritsumeikan University in 2023. Based on the last communication between the two University, Ritsumeikan University offers UPNVJ a Summer Program for one month in Kyoto, Japan. This summer program offers Non-Japan students a set of activities such as intensive Japanese language and culture classes without Semester Credits Conversion (SKS).     The Visit of UPNVJ Delegation and Exchange Students from Ablai Khan University, Kazakhstan and Walailak University, Thailand to Bandung

    In an effort to promote the internationalization of the University and strengthen its network of cooperation with various partners, UPNVJ organized a series of visits with 6 students from Ablai Khan University, Kazakhstan, and 2 students from Walailak University, Thailand, to Bandung from Thursday, March 2nd to Friday, March 3rd, 2023. They visited Universitas Padjajaran (UNPAD), Universitas Pasundan (UNPAS), the Bandung City Hall, and the Asian-African Conference Museum (MKAA). These activities were part of a tripartite effort to implement UPNVJ’s internationalization program through an exchange program with foreign students.

    As the first part of the visit series on the first day, UPNVJ visited UNPAD to conduct a cross-cultural dialogue between exchange students from UPNVJ and the UNPAD International Office. The delegation was welcomed by the UNPAD International Office. During this occasion, presentations were given on the institutional structure and implementation of UNPAD’s collaborative programs supporting internationalization. Additionally, exchange students from Ablai Khan University and Walailak University presented about the culture and education systems in Kazakhstan and Thailand.

    Next, on the first day’s second agenda, the UPNVJ delegation and exchange students visited UNPAS at the Jl. Dr. Setiabudi campus. During the visit, a cross-cultural dialogue was held between the exchange students from UPNVJ and the UNPAS cultural community. Activities included presentations from UNPAD postgraduate students on Indonesian Indigenous Heritage and presentations by exchange students from Ablai Khan University and Walailak University. The highlight of the event was a session of playing angklung with the Pasundan angklung community. Prof. Dr. H. Bambang Heru Purwanto, M.S., Vice Rector for Academic Affairs at UNPAS, expressed his appreciation for the visit from UPNVJ and the foreign exchange students. He hoped that this activity would serve to strengthen the network between UPNVJ and UNPAS, as well as with international partners through cultural exchange.

    On the second day of the visit, UPNVJ first visited the Bandung City Hall for a Courtesy Call with the cooperation and tourism departments of Bandung City. The hosts included Mrs. Eva Nur Desiyanti, MM., Sub-Coordinator for Foreign Cooperation Facilitation at the Bandung City Secretariat; Mrs. Yayah Sumiati, S.Ip., M.Si., Head of the Tourism Division of the Bandung City Culture and Tourism Office; Mr. Gusgus Sepran Bahtiar, Tourism Information Manager of the Marketing Division of the Bandung City Culture and Tourism Office; and Mr. Aji and Mrs. Risky as translators from the Bandung City Hall.

    Discussion regarding Tourism and UMKM Centers in Bandung

    During the visit to the Bandung City Hall, information was provided on Bandung’s MSMEs, which aim to support the economy and have been an effort towards economic recovery post-Covid-19. In terms of city development management, Bandung upholds the use of a smart city system with the theme of smart living for its residents. The city’s sister city cooperation programs with various cities in several other countries were also explained. Countries that have established cooperation with Bandung include Japan, China, the United States, the Philippines, Germany, Belgium, Australia, and others.

    Intercultural Student’s Dialogue between Delegation from UNJANI and Exchange Students of UPNVJ

    The highlight of the second day was the visit to MKAA, where the UPNVJ delegation and exchange students conducted a cross-cultural dialogue with MKAA representatives and students from Bandung universities such as Universitas Jenderal Ahmad Yani (UNJANI), Universitas Komputer Indonesia (UNIKOM), and Universitas Langlangbuana (UNLA). The event began with a presentation on the history of the KAA Museum by Mrs. Dahlia Kusuma Dewi, S.Sos., MIA., Head of MKAA. The event also featured a presentation on the education system and culture in Indonesia by a speaker from UNJANI, as well as discussions on cultural differences in Kazakhstan and Thailand by the exchange students.

    Discussion of Collaboration Opportunities with De Montfort University, United Kingdom

    The event begin with the remarks of the Head of the Office of International Affairs of UPNVJ, Dr. Bambang Susanto, MA., who reported that UPNVJ had previously held a virtual meeting with Dr. Ir. Dani Harmanto, MSc., an Associate Professor at De Montfort University, to discuss research collaboration with UPNVJ faculty members, Mr. Armansyah, PhD, from the Faculty of Engineering, and Dr. Didit Widiyanto, from the Faculty of Health Sciences.

    During the meeting, they also discussed the potential for collaboration in various fields through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) and proposed cooperation programs from the faculties represented at the meeting.

    Following the introduction, Mr. Daniel Winney, the Regional Director for North East and South East Asia at De Montfort University, presented a profile of De Montfort University. Mr. Daniel Winney expressed his hope that the discussion would enhance student mobility, research collaboration, dual degree programs, and other forms of cooperation.

    In principle, both parties welcomed the idea of signing an MoU and engaging in various forms of collaboration, benefiting both students and faculty members.

    Welcoming Mahasiswa Pertukaran Pelajar dari Ablai Khan University, Kazakhstan

    Pada tanggal 6 Februari 2023, UPNVJ melaksanaan penyambutan mahasiswa pertukaran dari Kazakh Ablai Khan University of International Relations and World Languanges, Kazakhstan. Terdapat 6 orang mahasiswa menjalani kuliah di Fakultas Ekonomi dan Bisnis selama 1 semester. Program pertukaran mahasiswa ini merupakan salah satu implementasi program kerjasama antara UPNVJ dan Ablai Khan University, Kazakhstan yang telah terbentuk sejak 8 Desember 2021 lalu.

    Upacara tersebut dihadiri oleh Wakil Rektor Bidang Akademik, Wakil Rektor Bidang Kemahasiswaan dan Kerjasama, Kantor Urusan Internasional, Kepala Pengembangan Pembelajaran dan Penjaminan Mutu, Dekan dan Dewan Pimpinan Fakultas Ekonomi dan Bisnis, serta beberapa mahasiswa dari Kazakhstan Student Club dan student buddies.

    Kegiatan tersebut dibuka dengan pengantar dari Dekan FEB, Ibu Dr. Dianwicaksih Arieftiara, SE., Ak., M.Ak., CA., CSRS. yang menyambut kedatangan mahasiswa dan memberikan apresiasi atas antusiasme mahasiswa tersebut untuk belajar di Fakultas Ekonomi dan Bisnis UPNVJ.  Mahasiswa tersebut mulai belajar Senin, 6 Februari 2023 dan memiliki 7 mata kuliah selama satu semester. Selama mahasiswa tersebut berada di Indonesia, FEB telah menyusun jadwal kegiatan kurikuler dan ekstrakurikuler, begitu pula dengan KUI.

    Dilanjutkan dengan sambutan Wakil Rektor III yang menyampaikan bahwa UPNVJ siap membantu mahasiswa internasional melalui KUI UPNVJ. Diharapkan mahasiswa akan mendapatkan pengalaman berkesan dan dapat mengeksplor Indonesia. Kemudian, Vani Amir, perwakilan mahasiswa Ablai Khan University menyampaikan terima kasih dan apresiasi atas bantuan dan pelayanan yang diberikan oleh UPNVJ dari sebelum keberangkatan hingga mahasiswa sampai tiba di UPNVJ. Dilanjutkan dengan sambutan dari Ketua Kazakhstan Student Club, Sharla Martiza, yang menyampaikan pesan dan harapan untuk mahasiswa Ablai Khan University selama di UPNVJ.

    Ditutup dengan sambutan dari Kepala KUI UPNVJ yang menyampaikan diharapkan kedatangan mahasiswa tersebut dapat memperkuat kerja sama antara Ablai Khan University, maupun Indonesia dan Kazakhstan yang telah terbentuk dan terus mengalami perkembangan. Kepala KUI UPNVJ juga mendorong mahasiswa tersebut untuk bergabung dalam kegiatan mahasiswa ekstrakurikuler khas Indonesia, seperti badminton dan pencak silat.

    UPNVJ sangat berharap para siswa dapat menikmati belajar di UPNVJ dan mendapatkan pengalaman yang luar biasa selama berada di Indonesia.
