    UPNVJ Media of Internationalization and Global Partnership

    Strengthening Regional and International Collaboration: UPNVJ at BKS PTN Barat Forum
    Pada 13 hingga 15 November 2024, Universitas Pembangunan Nasional Veteran Jakarta (UPNVJ) berpartisipasi dalam Forum Wakil Rektor Bidang Kerja Sama Perguruan Tinggi Negeri Se-Indonesia Bagian Barat (BKS PTN Barat) yang diadakan di Mercure Hotel, Bengkulu. Pertemuan strategis ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kemitraan akademik dan penelitian, baik di dalam negeri maupun internasional. Beberapa presentasi penting disampaikan oleh Prof. Dr. Taufik Saidi mengenai kolaborasi IMT-GT (Indonesia-Malaysia-Thailand Growth Triangle) dan Dr. Yulian Fauzi mengenai pentingnya akreditasi internasional. Diskusi paralel juga membahas tentang peningkatan mekanisme kerja sama, dengan perhatian khusus pada program pertukaran mahasiswa dan peluang double-degree. Para delegasi juga mengeksplorasi cara-cara untuk memperkuat hubungan akademik UPNVJ dan upaya internasionalisasi, termasuk inisiatif penelitian bersama dan integrasi kurikulum dengan industri. Kegiatan ini menegaskan komitmen UPNVJ untuk menghasilkan lulusan yang siap menghadapi tantangan global.

    Inspiring the Entrepreneurial Spirit: KEIND Talkshow at UPNVJ
    Pada 25 November 2024, UPNVJ menjadi tuan rumah Talkshow Kewirausahaan Indonesia (KEIND), sebuah acara dinamis yang bertujuan untuk menumbuhkan semangat kewirausahaan di kalangan mahasiswa. Pembicara utama dalam acara ini adalah Ketua KEIND Afda Rizal Armashita, Wakil Ketua Hendy Setiono, serta para pemimpin UPNVJ, yang menekankan peran semangat kewirausahaan dalam mendorong inovasi dan pertumbuhan ekonomi. Dalam acara ini, Bapak Ihsan Yunus berbicara tentang pentingnya teknologi dan jaringan dalam membangun bisnis yang sukses, sementara Bapak Ismail membahas tantangan seperti keterbatasan pendanaan dan mendorong kreativitas serta keberanian sebagai kunci untuk mengatasi hambatan. KEIND juga menegaskan komitmennya untuk mendukung UPNVJ melalui inisiatif seperti kelas kewirausahaan, magang, dan pengintegrasian topik kewirausahaan dalam kurikulum.

    Virtual Meeting with Prof. Franco Gandolfi
    Kantor Urusan Internasional UPNVJ mengadakan pertemuan virtual dengan Prof. Franco Gandolfi pada 6 November 2024 untuk merencanakan program pelatihan dan konsultasi dalam rangka meningkatkan manajemen universitas dan internasionalisasi. Pertemuan ini juga membahas kolaborasi mendatang dengan universitas di Amerika Serikat. Prof. Gandolfi, yang memiliki pengalaman luas bekerja dengan universitas di berbagai negara, berbagi wawasan mengenai strategi pengembangan universitas dan pentingnya kepemimpinan serta tata kelola dalam mencapai status universitas kelas dunia. Rencana untuk tahun 2025 mencakup seminar, lokakarya, dan konsultasi untuk meningkatkan kepemimpinan di UPNVJ.

    Virtual Planning Meeting for IPB and Bogor City Visits
    Pada 11 November 2024, Kantor Internasional UPNVJ mengadakan pertemuan virtual untuk merencanakan kunjungan kolaboratif ke Institut Pertanian Bogor (IPB) dan Kantor Pemerintah Kota Bogor yang dijadwalkan pada 5–6 Desember. Pertemuan ini menyoroti pentingnya memperluas kemitraan internasional, termasuk memanfaatkan program seperti IISMA untuk meningkatkan pertukaran mahasiswa internasional dan mengeksplorasi kemitraan dengan institusi di Asia Tenggara, Eropa, dan Australia.

    Unlocking Global Opportunities: Webinar on Studying in the United States
    Pada 12 November 2024, Kantor Urusan Internasional UPNVJ, bekerja sama dengan Konsulat Jenderal Republik Indonesia di New York (KJRI-New York), menyelenggarakan webinar “Empire State of Study: Unlocking Your Academic Pathway to New York”. Acara ini bertujuan untuk membimbing mahasiswa dalam menjelajahi peluang pendidikan dan profesional di New York, yang terkenal dengan universitas-universitas dunia dan lingkungan akademiknya yang dinamis. Dalam acara ini, Davira Chairunnisa, seorang LPDP scholar dan lulusan Universitas Columbia, berbagi pengalaman dan memberikan tips untuk memperoleh beasiswa serta cara mengatasi tantangan akademik di Amerika Serikat. Nadia Marlene Eunike, Koordinator Urusan Informasi, Sosial, dan Budaya di KJRI-New York, juga memperkenalkan universitas-universitas top di New York dan peluang magang di berbagai bidang. Webinar ini juga membahas kemungkinan kolaborasi mendatang, termasuk program pertukaran, penelitian bersama, dan magang internasional.

  • FISIP UPNVJ Visit Indonesian Corner in Ablai Khan University

    Faculty of Social and Political Sciences of Universitas Pembangunan Nasional “Veteran” Jakarta (FISIP UPNVJ) visited the Indonesian Corner at Ablai Khan University, Almaty, Kazakhstan on Wednesday, 21 February 2024. The vist was delegated by Wiwiek Rukmi Dwi Astuti, S.IP., M.Si., Coordinator of International Relations Study Program; and M. Chairil Akbar Setiawan, S.IP., M.A., Secretary of the Study Program.

    During the visit, FISIP UPNVJ held an outreach of Indonesia’s cultural diversity through the presentation of “Wonderful Indonesia.” The event is also attended by Murad Shamilov, Coordinator of International Relations of Ablai Khan University along with 40 students from the University. The event then continued by an interactive discussion, which participated by the students of Ablai Khan University. The visit of FISIP of UPNVJ to Ablai Khan University marked the strengthening of networks between the two University. Aside from the event, FISIP UPNVJ also conduct a meeting with Board of Ablai Khan University to discuss the implementation of student exchange and the Joint Degree program in the 2024/2025 academic year.

  • Opportunities for Further Study, Career and Academic Collaboration in the Netherlands

    The discussion was opened by remarks from Head of the UPNVJ International Affairs Office, who delivered a welcome address and expressed hope that the webinar would pave the way for UPNVJ to explore opportunities for further studies and academic collaboration in the Netherlands. The Rector of UPNVJ also gave a speech, highlighting the Netherlands as one of the countries with the best education systems in the world, attracting international students for their studies. It was noted that the Netherlands would be a key target for UPNVJ in strengthening its cooperation network and seeking study opportunities.

    The session continued with a speech from the Indonesian Ambassador to The Hague, who emphasized that academic collaboration is a primary focus of cooperation for the Indonesian Embassy in The Hague with various higher education institutions. It was explained that the Netherlands, through the embassy, continually strives to establish various educational collaborations with Indonesia. It was mentioned that there are approximately 2,000 Indonesian students pursuing undergraduate and postgraduate studies in the Netherlands, either through scholarships or self-financed by their respective universities.

    The Education Attaché of the Indonesian Embassy in The Hague presented an overview of the education system in the Netherlands. It was explained that in terms of research, Dutch universities typically employ Ph.D. students with funding amounting to 250,000 Euros or 4 billion Rupiah per year. The funding for such research is usually provided by the LPDP scholarships or EU Horizon Funding. The Indonesian Embassy in The Hague also focuses on various Indonesian universities that have not yet established direct communication with Dutch universities. Some of the programs between the Indonesian Embassy in The Hague and various Dutch universities include student conferences and sending Ph.D. students for research.

    It was explained that some types of collaborations favored by Dutch universities include joint master’s and doctoral degrees, double degrees, and the admission of Ph.D. scholarship students in the Netherlands through research programs. The Indonesian Embassy in The Hague stated that they are ready to facilitate communication between UPNVJ and universities in the Netherlands.

    The Visit of UPNVJ Delegation and Exchange Students from Ablai Khan University, Kazakhstan and Walailak University, Thailand to Bandung

    In an effort to promote the internationalization of the University and strengthen its network of cooperation with various partners, UPNVJ organized a series of visits with 6 students from Ablai Khan University, Kazakhstan, and 2 students from Walailak University, Thailand, to Bandung from Thursday, March 2nd to Friday, March 3rd, 2023. They visited Universitas Padjajaran (UNPAD), Universitas Pasundan (UNPAS), the Bandung City Hall, and the Asian-African Conference Museum (MKAA). These activities were part of a tripartite effort to implement UPNVJ’s internationalization program through an exchange program with foreign students.

    As the first part of the visit series on the first day, UPNVJ visited UNPAD to conduct a cross-cultural dialogue between exchange students from UPNVJ and the UNPAD International Office. The delegation was welcomed by the UNPAD International Office. During this occasion, presentations were given on the institutional structure and implementation of UNPAD’s collaborative programs supporting internationalization. Additionally, exchange students from Ablai Khan University and Walailak University presented about the culture and education systems in Kazakhstan and Thailand.

    Next, on the first day’s second agenda, the UPNVJ delegation and exchange students visited UNPAS at the Jl. Dr. Setiabudi campus. During the visit, a cross-cultural dialogue was held between the exchange students from UPNVJ and the UNPAS cultural community. Activities included presentations from UNPAD postgraduate students on Indonesian Indigenous Heritage and presentations by exchange students from Ablai Khan University and Walailak University. The highlight of the event was a session of playing angklung with the Pasundan angklung community. Prof. Dr. H. Bambang Heru Purwanto, M.S., Vice Rector for Academic Affairs at UNPAS, expressed his appreciation for the visit from UPNVJ and the foreign exchange students. He hoped that this activity would serve to strengthen the network between UPNVJ and UNPAS, as well as with international partners through cultural exchange.

    On the second day of the visit, UPNVJ first visited the Bandung City Hall for a Courtesy Call with the cooperation and tourism departments of Bandung City. The hosts included Mrs. Eva Nur Desiyanti, MM., Sub-Coordinator for Foreign Cooperation Facilitation at the Bandung City Secretariat; Mrs. Yayah Sumiati, S.Ip., M.Si., Head of the Tourism Division of the Bandung City Culture and Tourism Office; Mr. Gusgus Sepran Bahtiar, Tourism Information Manager of the Marketing Division of the Bandung City Culture and Tourism Office; and Mr. Aji and Mrs. Risky as translators from the Bandung City Hall.

    Discussion regarding Tourism and UMKM Centers in Bandung

    During the visit to the Bandung City Hall, information was provided on Bandung’s MSMEs, which aim to support the economy and have been an effort towards economic recovery post-Covid-19. In terms of city development management, Bandung upholds the use of a smart city system with the theme of smart living for its residents. The city’s sister city cooperation programs with various cities in several other countries were also explained. Countries that have established cooperation with Bandung include Japan, China, the United States, the Philippines, Germany, Belgium, Australia, and others.

    Intercultural Student’s Dialogue between Delegation from UNJANI and Exchange Students of UPNVJ

    The highlight of the second day was the visit to MKAA, where the UPNVJ delegation and exchange students conducted a cross-cultural dialogue with MKAA representatives and students from Bandung universities such as Universitas Jenderal Ahmad Yani (UNJANI), Universitas Komputer Indonesia (UNIKOM), and Universitas Langlangbuana (UNLA). The event began with a presentation on the history of the KAA Museum by Mrs. Dahlia Kusuma Dewi, S.Sos., MIA., Head of MKAA. The event also featured a presentation on the education system and culture in Indonesia by a speaker from UNJANI, as well as discussions on cultural differences in Kazakhstan and Thailand by the exchange students.

  • WINTER SCHOOL – UNIVERSITY OF INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY AND MANAGEMENT (UITM) IN RZESZÓW, POLAND

    University of Information Technology and Management (UITM) is the largest and highest-ranked private university established in 1996 and located in the largest city in southeastern Poland, named Rzeszów.

    UITM offers UPNVJ students, especially majoring in Economic, Management, and other similar major to join their Winter School.

    The Winter School will be started on February 20th until March 3rd, 2023 virtually.

    IISMA Sharing Session Series : America and Canada

    Dalam rangka meningkatkan motivasi dan minat mahasiswa UPN Veteran Jakarta untuk mengikuti program Indonesian International Students Mobility Awards (IISMA), KUI UPNVJ mengadakan kegiatan IISMA Sharing Session Series : America and Canada. Kegiatan tersebut diawali dengan pengantar dari Kepala KUI UPN Veteran Jakarta, yaitu Dr. Bambang Susanto, MA. dan sambutan dari Dekan Fakultas Teknik, yaitu Bapak Dr. Ir. Reda Rizal, M. Si.

    Tsabitha Afnan Putri Wahyudhi, mahasiswi S1 Ilmu Hukum, penerima beasiswa IISMA ke The Pennsylvania State University, Amerika Serikat mendeskripsikan mengenai sistem pembelajaran dan gaya hidup selama belajar di Amerika Serikat.

    Dilanjutkan dengan I Made Agung Januardi, mahasiswa Teknik Industri, penerima beasiswa IISMA ke University of Waterloo, Kanada menjelaskan mengenai kehidupan di Kanada, tantangan dan hambatan, serta menayangkan kehidupan di sekitar kampus.
